Isolation (the human condition)

[My brother wrote a great tune for this but it's not online anymore so here are the lyrics alone]:

Went into the City
Escaped from the trees
away from the lions
chasing me

Bought a robot
to fix me drinks
sat on my porch
so I could think

Planes overhead
through clouds and smog
shut the factory down
No more jobs

Homeless for miles
but the coal still burns
Bums on the freeway
amphetamine turns

Get me out of here
Can't take it no more
Get me out of here
Trash on the rat-race floor

Went back to the farmland
put the tractor in gear
Tilled my fields
until they were clear

Cut down the trees
for my fireplace
Looked in the mirror
at a stranger's face

Worked the good earth
fought the pests
Grew me some veggies
The flowers sold best

Lonely worked the land for years
Lonely now there's nothin' left

Get me out of here
Can't take it no more
Get me out of here
This life is an endless chore

Went into the forest
back to the trees
Prayed for redemption
on fragile knees

Walked through woods
lived on berries and leaves
Wandered forever
alone with me

Went raving mad
Fought with myself
spent seven years
In a paradise hell

Surrounded by beauty
Nothing to do
No one to share
What would you do?

Get me out of here
Can't take it no more
Get me out of here
This beauty's a bore

Went into the city
Escaped from the trees...

Nice. I like it. Wish I could hear it.

Guitar accompaniment?
Would make for a sad reflective song, maybe a ballad.

Lol. This reminds me of a Dr. Seuss story, "I Had Trouble in Getting to Solla Sollew" (where they never have troubles--at least very few).

By that I mean the literary theme reminds me of the Dr. Seuss work, not the meter or rhyming schemes.

I'm also reminded of a Bruno Bettleheim metaphor, what he called "the high price of living," which in many ways is more than we can afford. We either die spiritually, or psychologically or literally.

(Just noticed: Word verification is "buzzkill")

I'm hearing a Dylanesque type of jangle and thrum behind this one, I like it!

Part of what's been so busy about my life as of late is that I have been really going with my new band Detroit Perfect. A lot of fun, and just nice to reconnect with the musical part of my life. I know when I return to writing, it will have grown for the experience, just the same as my music sensibility and skills have flourished for my hard work in writing. There truly is a synergistic effect.

btw, you might find us on the web... and we do a wonderful cover of Redemption Song by Bob Marley, something I think you would very much dig.

I forgot, there is a snippet of a version of the song in the second third of this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=COQ1KYZUY-g in case any of you want to hear it.

FWG: Maybe the full audio will make an online comeback sometime.

Cuby: It was pretty up-tempo actually.

X: I can totally see that. I haven't read that story...can't beat Suess.

Eric: That's very cool. I found your band on Facebook and listened - really good stuff. Your poetry is generally very lyrical so it makes sense, your musicality. I didn't find the Redemption Song tho, but listened to some of the original stuff and really enjoyed it. Do you have a youtube channel?

This takes me back to my student days when a friend wrote similar stuff. That was many years ago but I still get the same feelings when I read yours. Its very like early Dylan (Bob not Thomas!) Good stuff.

Thanks Doris, I'll take a Dylan, Bob comparison any day!
